Meet Sheree D. Henry

Candidate for Cook County Judge - 2nd Subcircuit

Sheree D. Henry was born and raised on the south side of Chicago.

She lived on the south side of chicago in with her mother, brother and sister.  She learned about hard work , determination and dedication at an early as she watched her mother work in a factory in harvey to support the family

After she graduated from Hyde Park Career Academy High School, she joined the Illinois National Guard after graduation.  During her time in the Illinois Army National Guard, she developed her passion for public service and helping the community. While in the Illinois Army National Guard, she also attended Bradley University, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Political Science. Studying Political Science made her realize her love for The Constitution, particularly the 6th amendment right to a speedy and public trial by an impartial jury. There the seed for her legal career was planted.

After graduating from Bradley University, she attended Northern Illinois University’s Law School where she earned a Juris Doctorate while still serving in the Illinois Army National Guard. She began her legal career working at a civil rights law firm in Chicago. She then became an Assistant Cook County Public Guardian, where she worked tirelessly to represent children who were abused and or neglected. Sheree currently works as an Assistant Cook County Public Defender, where she helps represents indigent people charged with criminal offenses. In addition, she volunteers to represents individuals who are accepted in the cook county specialty courts programs.  These courts focus on helping people with drug addiction and mental health illness along with veterans who are charged with criminal offenses learn sobriety, health maintenance and life coping skills.

Sheree has had the privilege and honor of practicing law in front of several great judges. One thing that they have in common is that they compassion and they care about all parties in their courtroom. It is her vision to provide that same care as a judge.  She believes in Justice through fairness and Toughness, Love And Compassion. 

Sheree is married with children and lives in Homewood. She is an active member of the Democratic Women of the South Suburbs, Trinity United Church of Christ. In her spare time, she volunteers to help feed the homeless.
